The 2023 YAMWI conference is dedicated to Senator Jean Hunhoff

for her ongoing commitment and outstanding leadership as an elected official.

Senator Hunhoff served as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Joint

Appropriations Committee, as well as serving on multiple special committees to represent the needs

of mental health facilities, providers, consumers, and their families. Senator Hunhoff embodies the

‘silver linings’ of advocacy for those facing mental illness, support for the service providers, and vision

for an ever-brighter future for mental health care in our great State of South Dakota.
